If you want to take a trip into the past, we encourage you to come to Valea Hârtibaciului, also known as “Valea Verde” which can be translated as The Green Valley. It has a total of 90 km of hills and villages. Surrounded by defensive walls, the buildings there are equipped with galleries and watchtowers – true Transylvanian castles. Here are some examples of things to do in Valea Hârtibaciului to make the best out of it.

You can start by taking an 1 hour trip with the cyclo-trolley, moto-trolley or steam train from Cormatel to Hosman to relax and enjoy the mesmerizing view of the valley and visit some tourist destinations, such as Cornăţel Farm-School, Hosman Fortified Church, Alţâna Museum.

The saxon village Hosman offers you a panormaic view if you climb to the defense tower, a roman chuch built in the XIII century and an old mill from wich you can buy bread and different pastries.

If you are passionate about bike rides, the road from Sibiu to Agnita is perfect for that because it’s not extremly crowded.

Wander around the streets of the villages, rest in the shade of a haystack, climb a hill to admire the peaks of Făgăraşi and bring some food because a picnic in this location with such view is something dreamy.

Learn more about our traditional popular dance at Agnita where you can watch, or take part in a „horă” which we encourage you to do because this dance will revitalize you and make you feel part of something special.

Your taste buds will thank you if you try the traditional pie that is made locally, called Henklesch or Lichiu, it has a fluffy dough, sour cream and eggs. Once you taste it, we guarantee you’ll want more of it.

Go down to Dealu Frumos to see the fortified church and walk around the wide streets.

At the Cornănțel farm, the kids can try climbing, riding donkeys and ride the litte tractor, also take part in creative workshops and games.

To end the day on a high note, a breath-taking view with the sunset and all the saxon villages awaits you on top of the hills.

Wishing you a good day,

Victoria Bistrița
